Prenatal diagnostics

Karyotyping is an established method of human genetic chromosome analysis that can be used to reliably detect both numerical abnormalities of the entire chromosome set (e.g. trisomies) and structural changes such as deletions within individual chromosomes.

For decades, classical karyotyping has proven to be the gold standard in all areas of genetics - from prenatal and postnatal diagnostics to tumor cytogenetics, where it plays a central role in the classification of tumors as well as in progression and therapy monitoring.
